How We Make Traveling Easier

We have traveled a lot and been a lot of places and every time we go somewhere we still learn something new! One of our favorite places to take the family is Disney (or any amusement parks actually) and the beach, I mean who doesn't love the beach? We have taken the kids at different ages and it is so heartwarming to see that look in their eyes of excitement! Yes, even us bigger kids enjoy it!

A lot of parks since COVID offer a virtual tour online. That will help become more familiar with the parks so that you may plan and prepare your day for the best experience. This is helpful with kids and knowing what is most important to them. Always try to have an agenda especially for the larger parks, as it is impossible to do everything in one day. We have learned that starting at the back of the park is less busy, and you can avoid the worse of the early morning crowds. Make sure you prepare for unpredictable weather. Apply sunscreen before leaving the house and bring some with you just in case. It is also smart to bring a compact umbrella, and disposable ponchos. Rain clears out a lot of the crowds, and shuts down some rides, but if you’re patient it can be a day of fun. Plan meeting spots in the event of getting separated this has become a useful tool. You may also want to consider packing a portable charger for charging cell phones throughout your day. We have learned to not pay for photos that we can take ourselves. Also, packing a small portable cooler for snacks and water. Food in the park is very expensive, and this will also give you more time to focus on what you came for vs waiting in long lines as well as saving you the cost of high-priced food. Most importantly, come early and leave early IF you want to avoid the larger crowds.

When planning for a beach vacation, there are many different factors. If your vacation entails adults, surfing, parasailing, scuba diving, jet skiing etc. are fun ideas. If you are planning your trip with children, you may want to research what part of the beach is best and factor in lifeguards and the tide level at that time. A few essential items for the beach include, beach toys, sunscreen, drinks and snacks, towels, beach chairs, beach blanket to name a few. Most importantly stay hydrated and use sunscreen.

We always have activities for those in-between times of our trip, even if it’s just a card game or a scavenger hunt that the kids can follow the clues, and the winner gets a prize. They have enjoyed burying a box filled with candy in the sand and pretending we are finding a treasure a few moments later! If you’re going to the beach this nighttime activity is a family favorite of ours - once the sun goes down, grab a flashlight, bucket, and net and head to the beach.  You can watch as the ghost crabs scurry away from your light in the sand!
